Yes ,it is in all the other cases except you yourself is a CCTV Technician having expertise , tools and consumables etc and have time to take care of your system yourself . As mentioned , in all the other cases taking AMC is as important as fixing cameras . Here by paying little  premium you won’t have to worry about your security system and ultimately your home security.

How to choose a company for AMC of my security system: 

There are two situations when you are looking for AMC of CCTV Cameras , you are installing a new CCTV  Camera system and want to take AMC from start and in this case we will advise you to go with the company who is taking care of your installation need . Please make sure you bargain the AMC cost well in advance to get some good discount on that.

Please Note : If you are getting a new system installed ( a small system upto 8 cameras )  and have some technical knowledge , you can take care of the system yourself for the warranty period as in this time , being the system new , there will be very less chance any maintenance . 

In second case you already have the system installed and want to take AMC for the system to avoid the inconvenience of repair and keep . Here you have to go through the details of AMC  offered by the companies in your city .

What all type of AMC are offered by the companies :

There are two main type of AMCs of security system offered by most of the companies COMPREHENSIVE AMC & NON-COMPREHENSIVE AMC .The major difference between these two is  comprehensive AMC covers the parts + consumables + service and non-comprehensive covers consumables + Service . Sometime , few companies provides only service in non-comprehensive AMC and they get one price list for the consumables & parts signed by the client which is valid for the term of the AMC .

Should I go with Comprehensive or Non-Comprehensive AMC : 

Our suggestion is , for the new installations (till warranty period) go with non-comprehensive AMC and for the old installations which needs more repairs  go with comprehensive AMCs.

What all to look for in AMC :

Please check first duration of the contract . AMC itself means Annual Maintenance Contract , but some companies are selling Quarterly AMC , Half Yearly AMC  ( AMC & Half Yearly sounds little weird,isn’t it ?)

  • How many scheduled maintenance visit they are providing .
  • How many free visits they are giving . A detailed checkup every three months is recommended to keep your security system in good health condition .
  • How many free on call service they are providing and what they are charging after for after the free visit services .
  • Do they provide on call technical support service for small technical issues which can be sorted out with a help over phone.
  • Do they provide standby product for the days your product is there in servicing.
  • To whom all ( Corporate & Govt organisation ) they are providing the same type of services .

  • One Maintenance visit / Year .

  • Two maintenance visit /Year . ( on interval of 6 months).

  • Free emergency call out -1 No./ Year
  • Call Out discount – 30% .
  • Technician appointment response -within 24 Hrs.

Gold Package :

  • Three  maintenance visit /Year .( on interval of 4 months).
  • Free technical support on phone on weekdays in office time ( Monday to Saturday , 10 AM to 6 PM)
  • Free emergency call out -2 No./ Year
  • Call Out discount – 40% .
  • Technician appointment response -within 8 Hrs.

The type of  packages offered by the companies may be different in name as well as in packaging and you have to pick one which is more suitable for you depending upon your requirement.
